Women's Shooting Programs and Ladies Day in McKinney
We run a women's shooting range in McKinney built around one idea: a woman should be able to take up shooting without feeling judged, rushed, or talked down to. Every Tuesday is Ladies Day at The Range in McKinney, with half off lane fees and free gun rentals for women. We also offer private lessons, the beginner-friendly NSSF First Shots class, and License to Carry courses taught by certified instructors, several of them active-duty military or law enforcement. No membership is required, first-timers get an instructor on the range with them, and you are welcome whether you have never held a firearm or you shoot every week. Call (972) 330-4415 to book.
Why So Many Women Choose Us
Ask women why they picked our indoor shooting range, and the answer is rarely about the equipment. It is about how it feels to walk in.
A lot of women tell us their first experience at a gun range somewhere else was intimidating. Crowded lanes, staff who assumed they knew nothing, or a boyfriend or husband who tried to teach them and made it worse. We built the opposite of that. Our instructors are used to teaching from zero, and they explain the why behind every step instead of just barking commands. You set the pace.
The room helps too. Our range air is never recirculated, so you are not breathing smoke and lead haze while you are already a little on edge. The lanes are clean, the targets turn a full 360 degrees for reactive drills once you are ready, and there is no pressure to perform for anyone in the next stall.

Ladies Day: Every Tuesday
Tuesday is the day the range fills up with women, and it has become the easiest on-ramp we offer.
- Half off lane fees: Standard lane time is $25 per hour, so Ladies Day cuts that in half.
- Free rentals: If you do not own a firearm yet, you can try different pistols at no rental charge and figure out what actually fits your hand before you ever buy one.
- A welcoming crowd: Tuesdays draw regulars who remember being new. First-timers get an instructor on the range, so you are never left guessing.
That combination, free rentals plus a discounted lane plus an instructor, is the cheapest and least stressful way to find out whether shooting is for you. Bring a friend. Many of our Tuesday regulars started by dragging a nervous friend along and swapping roles a month later.
Classes Built for Women Starting From Zero
Ladies' Day is open range time. When you want structure, we have classes that take you further:
NSSF First Shots.
This is our entry-level program for people who have never fired a gun. You cover the fundamentals, safe handling, and your first live rounds in a controlled setting with an instructor beside you the whole time.
Private lessons.
One-on-one time with an instructor, paced entirely to you. This is the most popular choice for women who want to skip the group setting and ask every question without an audience.
License to Carry.
When you are ready to carry, our LTC course walks you through the Texas classroom requirements and the shooting proficiency demonstration. You can read what the whole process looks like in our Texas License to Carry guide.
Our trainers hold credentials through U.S. Law Shield and the NRA, and several are active-duty military or law enforcement. Knowing the four rules of safe firearm handling is where every class starts, before anything is loaded.
What to Expect on Your First Visit
You do not need to bring anything except a valid passport or government-issued photo ID. We provide eye and ear protection on-site if you do not have your own. If it is your first time shooting, an instructor comes onto the range with you, so you are never handling a rental alone.
Here is a simple first Tuesday:
- Come in during open hours, Tuesday through Saturday, 10am to 7pm.
- Tell the front desk it is your first visit and you want Ladies Day.
- Pick a rental to try, free on Tuesdays, and buy a box of range ammunition.
- Your instructor sets you up in a lane and stays with you.
No membership, no commitment, no experience assumed.
Bring a Friend This Tuesday
The women who shoot with us regularly almost all started the same way, unsure, a little nervous, and glad afterward that they came on a Tuesday when the range was full of people just like them. If you have been curious and waiting for a low-pressure way in, this is it. Book a lane or a First Shots class with The Range in McKinney, come in on Ladies Day, and try it with the rentals on us.
